Newport News, VA (1/13/10) – Witt Mares, PLC, a regional accounting and consulting firm serving clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic, announced that effective January 1, 2010, Mary C. Aldrich, SPHR, was named partner at the firm. Ms. Aldrich, who joined Witt Mares in 2003 and has 16 years experience in business management and market development, serves as the firm’s Chief Operating Officer (COO).
As COO, Ms. Aldrich oversees the functions of the firm that ensure the effective and efficient operation of Witt Mares’ practice. She oversees the human resources, training, information technology, risk management and compliance, office administration, facilities, marketing, and business development departments in the firm. In addition, Ms. Aldrich assists the Chief Executive Officer in managing the strategic direction of the firm and works with the Chief Practice Officer on matters related to the firm’s delivery of services and technical work.
Ms. Aldrich formerly served as Witt Mares’ Chief Practice Officer and Chief Specialty Practice Officer, with responsibility for development and implementation of the firm’s service model for each practice segment. During her tenure with the firm, she also served as Director of Practice Growth.
Ms. Aldrich holds a bachelor’s degree in International Studies and a master’s degree in International Policy from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, with a certificate in French. She is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and holds professional certificates in trade financing, business studies, human resources management and process management.
Ms. Aldrich is a member of the Association for Accounting Administrators and the Society for Human Resources Management. Her community involvement includes teaching English as a second language for Peninsula Reads and service on the board of the Newport News YMCA and the Marketing Committee of the City of Newport News Economic Development Authority.
