NEWPORT NEWS, VA (10/26/10) – Mary B. Oder, a certified financial planner and enrolled agent with Witt Mares, PLC – a regional accounting and consulting firm serving clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic – recently was named to the Board of The Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC).
The TNCC Board – which is comprised of 14 members from six localities in the community college’s service area – acts in an advisory capacity to the State Board for Community Colleges and the College’s President.
Oder has a long history of service in education, as well as other civic and community affiliations, including the Newport News School Board (member and former chair), Board of Directors for the Virginia Living Museum (member), Preschool Partners of the Virginia Peninsula (co-chair), and Local Finance Board for Newport News Public Schools (member).
At Witt Mares, Oder specializes in taxation, consultation, and planning for small businesses and high net worth professionals.
Oder has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Also named to the TNCC Board were: Kyle P. Adams, a political consultant who is currently employed by Northrop Grumman; Albert O. Louer, the director of principal gifts in Colonial Williamsburg’s development program; and Deborah R. Reese, an educator at Hampton University.
