FAIRFAX, VA (7/12/11) – Witt Mares, PLC, a regional accounting and consulting firm serving clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic, is pleased to announce that Neena Shukla, CPA has joined the firm’s Fairfax office as Audit Manager. Her areas of specialization include government contracting, employee benefit plans, SEC consulting and working with companies in the field of technology. Shukla brings specialized knowledge of key accounting issues such as employee stock compensation, equity transactions and software revenue recognition to clients.
Prior to joining Witt Mares, Shukla served as Senior Assurance Manager for a Reston-based CPA firm. There, she managed, planned, and performed assurance engagements, including audits, reviews, compilations, agreed-upon procedures and employee benefit plan audits. She also created and implemented a new scheduling tool to effectively manage and utilize staff on assurance engagements and led the implementation of the firm’s quality control system.
Previously, Shukla was an Assurance Associate at Watkins Uiberall, PLLC in Memphis, TN, where she performed audits, compilations, reviews and internal control assessments for healthcare, HUD and not-for-profit clients and local governmental entities.
Shukla graduated with honors with a degree in accounting from the University of Wales, Swansea. She is active in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA), and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Her involvement with the VSCPA includes serving on the Government Contracting Conference Task Force. She is also a member of the Greater Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants (GWSCPA), serving as a member of the Government Contracting Committee. In addition, Shukla is a volunteer subcommittee member of the Women in Technology Education Foundation, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to advance women in technology from the classroom to the boardroom by providing advocacy, leadership development, networking, mentoring and technology education.
