Witt Mares stands ready to serve credit unions with the following specialized services:

• Supervisory committee audit support. As your auditors, we believe part of our responsibility is to keep your supervisory committee members informed.  Supervisory committee audit training can help committee members better understand their roles within the credit union structure and enhance the utility of supervisory committee activities.  Committee training is available at your request to instruct committee members in all aspects of their duties as credit union officials, allowing them to perform some audit services.

• Internal Audit Support. Our internal auditor co-sourcing and consulting can either be your internal auditor or assist your internal audit staff in remaining up-to-date on new regulations, while remaining efficient with the established routine.

• Assistance with NCUA Examiners. As your auditors, we are available to meet with your NCUA examiner to answer any questions regarding the credit union audit, operations of the institution, or verification of member accounts.  Our experience with credit union examiners can assist you in understanding the reasons for the questions and interpreting the examination results.

• Consultations. You can rely on us to answer your technical questions.  Time we spend answering your questions means your work can be done correctly the first time.

 

At Witt Mares, we have a long history of working with credit unions. Over the years, members of our firm have served on leading policy boards of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Through our history of auditing credit unions and our participation with leading authoritative committees, we have acquired extensive knowledge of credit union rules and regulations as they relate to all facets of operations.

The Credit Union Team is recognized as a leader on topics related to financial entities. The team's members have served as speakers at seminars throughout the nation on such topics as supervisory committee training, credit union accounting, internal controls and internal auditing. We are also a member of the Association of Credit Union Internal Auditors (ACUIA) which allows us to keep pace with issues facing credit unions in today's changing industry.

Our membership and participation in the National Association of Credit Union Supervisory and Audit Committees (NACUSAC) enables us to serve our credit union clients better by allowing us to become more informed about issues that face credit unions in today's changing industry and by letting us know what services credit union auditors want. A credit union network allows our voice as credit union auditors to make a difference.

With current changes in technology and NCUA regulations, credit unions are facing a multitude of challenges and must respond quickly to the fast-paced changing times. Credit Union Service Organizations, or CUSOs, will be an integral part of the future. Our membership in the National Association of Credit Union Service Organizations (NACUSO) ensures that we are among the first to know what is happening in this emerging field.
