For many years, Witt Mares has helped the hotel industry obtain uniformity of financial reporting by co-authoring Uniform System of Accounts for Hotels, which is published by the American Hotel and Motel Association.

In fact the latest edition of the Uniform System still cites William J. Forster (the F in PKF) for his contribution to the first edition. Further, as an aid to hoteliers in comparing their operations with others, PKF annually compiles the data and publishes Trends in the Hotel Industry, a statistical review of U.S. hotel operations by industry segment.
